New in October - Phrases! Adley is stringing words together all the time which is fascinating to hear and exciting to watch. All of this makes her easier to communicate with (and a little bossy). Here's the fun we've had so far:
"bye-bye", "nigh-night" and "all done" (all oldies but goodies)
Adley has started adding to the above to include:
"Byb-bye Daddy" or "night-night Mommy" or most recently "cycle bye-bye" which means our neighbor with the Harley has left for work after idling forever in the driveway.
"More _________" - you fill in the blank, (typically fishies, juice, or snack pronounced "knack")
"All Better" (new and improved is typically used when we are done doing something she hates like trimming nails or washing her face, or changing her pants)
"Whole Wurl" which refers to the lyrics ("whole world" in her favorite VBS song from Friendship Trek 2008 (Let's Get Started)
The new version is: "Elmo Wurl" which refers to the DVD that Grandma bought her in California which has 3 episodes of the best TV show ever: Elmo's World. (The theme song is kind of catchy. Those of you who have kids under 5 know what I mean).
"1-2-3" (counting is all the rage around here, especially because Elmo counts!)
kitty down!
Shoes off
Shoes on (did I mention she can be a little bossy?)
"luv you is very popular among the Mommy and Daddy set. So far Adley has been prompted each time but she doesn't hold back and usually accompanies this with a hug or a kiss.
This is our first documented conversation with Daddy telling him about her day:
"Mena...out...walk...Mommy..."
A few days later at the dinner table....
Adley: "....keens...keens...keens....keens!"
Mommy: "What are you saying?"
"Adley: "Pig...(piggy grunting noises)"
Mommy: "Oh! You played with your piggy bank and the coins!"
Adley: "Yeaaaaaaaah!" (My Mommy is really slow...)
"Not like mine" which refers to a book Grandma bought Adley (An ant has legs.....but, not like mine!) The book is awesome and we all have it memorized but we still read it regularly.
__________ Sleeping. Earlier this week Adley greeted Daddy at the door with the following:
"Daddy working, Mommy sleeping." Of course, Mommy was laying on the floor in Adley's room playing our new favorite game of sleeping with the pillow and the blankie. Mommy had her blanket and was laying next to the sock monkey (who has her own pillow by the way) and the baby (who has her own Moses basket). Daddy doesn't believe all this and now refers to Adley as his little informant. Mommy doesn't think there's any more dilligent child care out there but who are you going to believe?
Adley has turned to me on two separate occasions and, while putting her finger to her lips, has shushed me! I think she was coloring at the time. On the other hand, this does not work in reverse.
Two completely new phrases:
" 'are you?" which is "Where are you?" and accompanied by a shrug of the shoulders can refer to the kitty, Daddy, or most recently Grandma.
" 'how bout?" which is uttered while rifling through the bottom portion of Mommy or Daddy's closet to help pick out what we should wear. (I think she got this from Grandma).

Fall, Beautiful Fall
Mommy Mishap
Ok, I admit it. I have committed the most common and most dreaded Mommy mistake - we left our baby's baby doll behind in California. Awful, awful, Mommy. Not only that, but our flight was scheduled over nap time. I could explain that the baby doll was packed in a place of honor in the Princess backpack with assorted toys and the juice cup, but, a certain somebody was so enamored with the juice cup on the pile of luggage that they removed the Princess backpack from the pile. Of course, then we were all ready to load the car with the pile of luggage, carryons, and a certain somebody with their juice cup. We discovered the blunder upon arriving at the curb at the airport when it was too late! So we made a very long 4 hour flight only to arrive home apologizing profusely at bedtime. Fortunately, Grandma and Pa-ka found a box and quickly sent Baby on her way to Joliet to her "Mommy."

Last California Pictures...or should I say "for-nya"
She's also learned "Here is the church..." and "Where is Thumbkin?" from this book. We've learned that "nem-o" refers to "There was a farmer who had a dog..." and not the Disney movie. What a great addition to our library ("libey").
Thanks for all the new books Grandma!
