We've Graduated

Cana recently graduated from the exer-saucer seat to the toddler version. She is so happy to have this extra freedom and can be found in there several times a day.

Preschool

The second day of school.

Doesn't she look tall?

The outfit is an exact replica. She had help with the facial features.

I keep telling myself - remember these days, remember these days.

9 Months

Cana at 9 months - 9/11/2010

On Thursday, 9/16, we took Cana for her 9 month checkup. She is now 29 1/2 inches tall and weighs 24 pounds and 5 ounces. That all adds up to one healthy little girl who is growing very fast. At nine months Cana has two front teeth on the bottom and she has been crawling since 7 months so she can get around quite fast. In fact, when she really wants to go she put her head down and scuttles! Her favorite thing is to stand up (holding on to the nearest piece of furniture) and to see how high she can reach. She recently graduated from being content with things in front of her to investigating her world (including things that should be out of reach). We should be used to this but it still catches us off guard.

Cana loves ADLEY, Mommy, Daddy, although not always in that order. Adley can make Cana laugh nearly every time - and her laugh is infectious. We love to hear the giggles, and squeals and occasionally we're treated to the belly laughs. Her favorite toy is whatever sister is playing with and sometimes Aishah's tail. When those two aren't around she's all over the DVD player which is unfortunately, right at her level. She loves her pacifier, bottle, rice cereal, Cheerios, teething biscuits and some fruits and vegetables. Pears and sweet potatoes are favorites, the rest are tolerated in small amounts.

Cana does not love: meals that are late, washing her face, any food with texture, Adley's screaming (it scares her too), and being separated from us by baby gate.

She is such a sweetheart and is so often happy that only a missed meal or an altercation with sister will cause her to screech. Even the occasional bump or fall rarely bothers her.

Cana can say "uh-uh" when something drops, "ma-ma" when she is upset and "BYE!" when she feels like it. She talks freely and with abandon during church services and rarely utters a peep when Grandma and Grandpa are on the phone. She claps when prompted and enjoys the song "When you're happy and you know it..." Cana enjoys books just like the rest of our family and is particularly enjoying the textured animal books right now.

Our baby is turning into a delightful toddler.

Ready or not!

Housework Help

I've finally discovered the secret to getting it all done - Help! Recently, Adley and Cana have started pitching in with the household chores. You can see for yourself what industrious girls we have.

(Perhaps Mommy should be taking fewer pictures and helping?)

Sorting the laundry...

Eating the laundry...

Mopping the floor...

Doing the dishes...
(aka turning the kitchen into a swamp)

Cooking in the kitchen...

"Remember to close the fridge!"
