New Tricycle

Simeon's new tricycle.
We noticed at church that Simeon was trying to pedal so we knew we were ready for a trike.  Once he masters this he can keep up with his sisters so he is properly motivated!

Kane County Cougars or "Bees Ball Game!"

Simeon and Daddy enjoying the game.
The Cougars won 10-2 and the storm that was expected held off until we made it home. Simeon watched most of the game with us and clapped when the Cougars scored.

Adley and Can wore their Cougar T-shirts from last year and had new Cougar string back-packs from this year.  These were prizes for one of the reading clubs that Adley participated this winter. Adley, Cana and friends spent most of the game moving around in the stands.  They danced with the music (especially YMCA) and looked up to cheer occasionally.

After the game the Cougars let the kids run the bases.

Grandparents Day turned Mom's Day

On Thursday, Cana school invited all the grandparents or parents to attend preschool.  Mommy went to class with Cana and Daddy stayed with Simeon.  We started in the classroom with lacing beads until it was time for Chapel which was led by Daddy.  After chapel Cana's class went to gym to play while grandmas and grandpas, moms and dads had a coffee break.  Then we went back to the classroom for a key chain craft, story time and free play.  Cana chose to play legos with Mommy and we built a house.

Curriculum Night

Dinner at home.
Dessert at Yogurt Beach, then on to Adley's school.

Adley's Eric Carle caterpillar is on top.

Each of the first graders built a tornado maker with2 liter bottles, glitter and their choice of food coloring.  This was for their unit on weather.

Adley was part of the cumulus cloud group.  Adley traced the cloud that they used for this display.  Then each person in the group wrote out one fact they learned about their clouds.

Adley wrote: "They form vertically."

Preschool through 2nd grade made classroom displays for curriculum night.  Third through 8th grade made individual projects that were on display in the gym.  We enjoyed visiting the projects of all of our friends.

Bridging

Adley joined a Daisy troop at her school this year.  April 22, the first graders met up with several other troops to bridge up to Brownies.

Bridging is a blur.

Our new brownies will join the larger brownie troop made up of the current second graders.

Bike Ride - Spring Has Sprung!

The promised bike ride in Settlers Park.  We have been planning a full family bike ride but Mom and Dad's bike's weren't ready.  The girls needed some practice with their new (upgraded) bikes.  Adley has her new bike from her birthday and she has been waiting since January to get it outside.  Cana moved up a size and is practicing her balance.  Simeon is trying out his new helmet for the first time and he was able to get some speed on his fire engine.

Picnic in the park when the riding was done and some playtime on the playground.

Easter at Home

Easter hats and treats plus a gift bag from our adopted church grandparents.
Thank you Randy and Cindy for the fun gifts.

Dying easter eggs with whiped cream and food coloring swirls.  This was a pinterest idea with shaving cream but we planned to eat the eggs so we modified.  The eggs were pretty but pastel. And we were able to get messy.  I'm sure glad we saved this project for after church.  It took awhile for the dye to come off our hands.

Easter

He is Risen!
Alleluia!
We had a beautiful Easter Service 8am.  We stayed at church until Daddy was finished with second service so we could have lunch as a family.  As an added bonus the weather was beautiful and the grass is green.

Journey to the Cross

Journey to the Cross returned to Zion this year.  We traveled to each of the 13 sites as a family to experience some sights and smells and tastes of Holy Week.  Simeon is collecting stamps in his passport.

Meeting the donkeys.

Waving palm branches and shouting Hosanna!, then laying them on the path.

A rubbing of the coins as we felt 30 pieces of silver.

Washing of hands.

Meeting the soldier and pounding nails.

Viewing an empty tomb.
