Shedd Aquarium

Adley getting a feel for a Sea Star.

Showing Cana how too touch a Sea Star.

A fully hands on exhibit in the Polar Play Zone - playing with shells.

Nearby, the dolphins were showing off their synchronized swimming skills.

Adley was psyched to see the penguins.  The girls enjoyed the large windows and small crowds so they had plenty of time to watch the penguin antics.

Adley the penguin in the penguin play area.  They had steps and slides and tunnels and rocks to climb to imitate the penguins.  We spent a good amount of time here.

A picture perfect smile in a rare moment of calm.

Cana in the jellies exhibit.  She had a birds-eye view for the underside of the jellies.

After lunch, a full tummy and one-on-one time with Grammy.

Waiting for Daddy at the circular tank with plenty to see.

Another photo op as we wind down our visit.

FantaSea Show at the Shedd Aquarium

On Friday, 11/25/11 we were treated to a VIP visit to the Shedd Aquarium courtesy of a member of our church and family.  We drove down early to ensure decent parking and then we had front row seats at the opening show of the Holiday Fantasea.

The opening show of A Holiday Fantasea with Santa arriving by boat.

Adley and Grammy enjoying the show - particularly the leaping dolphins.

Sea Lion salute.

Cana concentrating on the show.  She seemed to enjoy it and sat patiently through its entirety.

Our best photo of the dolphins - all 4 at once!

Show's over, time to have more fun with Grammy!

Spinach Souffle

Grammy made a spinach souffle for supper before we left for Thanksgiving Eve service. I had my doubts about how much the girls would eat, but they both enjoyed it and ate a decent supper without much cajoling.

Souffle Memory
Grammy to Adley: "Do you like the souffle?"
Adley: "Oh yes, can you give me the recipe?"

Mommy had to document Cana eating Spinach Souffle.

Bowling with Granmy

Adley attended a birthday party at a bowling alley this fall.  Adley enjoyed her first bowling experience and we planned to take Grammy and Cana next.

Cana LOVED bowling.  She loved everything about it.  She loved being included, she loved taking her turn and she loved carrying her 4lb. ball over to the lane.  Grammy takes the first turn and "showing" Cana how to bowl.  Mentoring Cana became increasingly difficult as she quickly became an expert.

Daddy showing the girls how to bowl by example.

Daddy trying to "show" Cana how to bowl.
This also ensured that the ball would actually reach the pins!

Daddy mentoring Adley.

Although, Adley quickly got the hang of it and bowled on her own for the majority of the game.

She did pretty well, too, bowling a 91 if I remember correctly.

Cana couldn't wait for her ball to get back.  After pushing the ball down the lane she would run full throttle to the ball return and peer inside.

Only Adley could find a 6lb. bowling ball to match her outfit!

Waiting....waiting....waiting....

Finally!

Thanks Grammy for a fun afternoon.

More Grandma Fun!

Adley and Cana as doctor and nurse.  Grammy makes an excellent patient.

Grammy brought stickers to decorate the girls bed and walls.  Clearly, this was a success.

Block Party at Preschool

Friday night, our preschool hosted a Building Block Party in the Activity Center for all preschoolers and their families.  Siblings were invited as well to visit various block stations in the gym to build with large blocks, small blocks, or blocks on wheels.  The girls had a blast.

Daddy helping build a wall.

Cana found some trucks and trains and was content to play by herself, for awhile.
